An app that provides resources for commuters on Messiah University's campus. This project was designed to prototype an app that serves underrepresented groups on campus.
I had the privilege to work with a group of two other designers to produce this prototype. We went through the several stages of designing an app, beginning with user survey's. We sent out a survey to the commuter population on Messiah's campus. The survey consisted of several questions asking them about how far they live from campus, where they most hang out while on campus, amongst some other demographic questions. Next, we created user personas and flows to understand how we can help users through our app. Along with the user research, we also ideated on what the app should be called and what the logo might look like. We then created low fidelity wireframes followed by high fidelity wire frames to get a good sense of how our interface would look.
After the wireframes, we dove into actually prototyping Steer. For this, we used Figma teams to be able to work on one project all together. After we created a draft of the app, we tested it with users from all over campus! This was incredibly helpful to be able to get feedback from people who had no connection to the app or even the course content itself. With this feedback we went back to clean up the prototype to present the final version. Along with the final prototype, we created an explanation video of how a user may go through the app.
This project really expanded my knowledge of UI/UX design, which has inspired me to learn more about the UX part - by taking an intro computer programming course.
