Unemployment Zero

Project type

Branding & Web

Date

Sept. & Dec. 2024

Unemployment Zero (Un0) is a start up non-profit organization tackling the puzzle of ending unemployment. In a team of six designers, we were tasked to create cohesive branding for their organization. The first part of this process was creating a moodboard and sketching ideas for their breading. Three of the sketched logos were then turned into fuller brand spaces that were presented during critique. With this time during critique, I got good feedback on what to revise and what two directions to move forward with. The two that were chosen were options 2 and 3.

At the internal pitch, we presented our two brand directions. This was a mock pitch to practice for our actual client pitch and to get any final feedback on our directions as well as choose one to move forward with to show the client. The one I went with was "Ending Unemployment. Period." This direction encapsulates Un0's main objective: to end unemployment period. This brand is direct and to the point, which is exactly what they were looking for. This meaning that they chose my direction as their new brand.

With my direction chosen, I followed up with them to make any last minute changes to perfect their new branding. This resulted in emailing back and forth about color palette mostly. They wanted earthy, yet bold tones to signify their global change they seek to provide.

As my brand direction was chosen out of the six designers, Unemployment Zero reached out again asking for more help with cohesive branding through web. This project allowed me to have more creative freedom and control. Un0 needed assistance on cohesive branding for their website and an informational one pager to hand out to donors.

I decided to provide a Kit of Parts (KOP), home page design, and informational one pager. As I was the only one designing for them this time around, I provided them with two different options during their pitch. During the client pitch, they decided that they wanted a bit of a combination of both directions, which is where I landed on the final designs for their web project.
